96wrld: "Pirmas Rudeninis"

"Pirmas Rudeninis" comes to us via the Renegades of Bump imprint's Ritmo Kovos vol. III comp. Bump is about as good a word as any for what 96wrld is getting himself up, gurgling bass splashes on a roller coaster ride with acid stabs as their conductor. Check out dude's Soundcloud page if you like his m.o.... he's been keeping busy.

Xosar: "Night Jam"

"Night Jam" is that late night afterparty come down for when the chick you've been stalking through back alleys manages to escape and you have to return home empty handed. Even sociopaths need something to relax to. For the well adjusted among you Xosar's malevolent bassline means you'll probably have a bad time.

Cubic Zirconia: "Darko" [Tommy Trash Remix]

Last night I left the club in a k-hole stupor and soon thereafter a jet engine fell through the dance floor.

TNGHT: "Higher Ground"

Today is the day: the self-titled EP from the Hudson Mohawke / Lunice collaboration TNGHT is finally out on Warp. Has it really been two and a half months since we posted previous leak "Bugg'n"? Seems somehow longer than that.

Addison Groove: "Bad Things" [feat. Spank Rock]

I'm all about electronic artists working blue, primarily because I hope it will further the less adventurous, far more boring crunk's obsolescence. Where Addison Groove and Spank Rock get it right is in keeping the beats first and foremost, whereas guys like Lil John and Soula Boy hit autopilot on the bass and just rattle off some shit about bitches getting freaky on the dance floor... it's really 2 Live Crew without the humor value, isn't it?

Blondes: "Amber"

Something about the uni-syllable, pluralized band name Blondes makes you expect a West Coast psych-pop throwback, but nope: they're actually an electronic, dream house-y duo from NYC... which you'd know if you followed the string of singles released last year as lead up to their just dropped debut album (yeah, I didn't either). If Tangerine Dream scored an Alejandro Jodorowsky-directed Silver Surfer movie it would probably come out something like this.

If you want to check out more the place to do it is over at the RVNG Intl website, where you can stream the entire first disc (the album comes with a second disc of remixes). Do it. Blondes have more fun.

Daniel Avery: "Airstrike" [Tom Furse Remix]

I like a little meanstreak in my house / techno... an insistent, throbbing synth line tempered with a bit of minimalist funk and a pronounced sinister flair. Haven't heard the original of Daniel Avery's "Airstrike" but Tom Furse (The Horrors) remixes it into a Rohypnol swirl of menacing vibes and bad intentions. Bravo, lad.

The E.P. is out now on Relish.

Justice: "Canon" [Tiga Remix]

Man, Justice is really spacing out these Audio, Video, Disco singles.  "Civilization" came out way back in March 2011, with only the title track making a belated follow up in September.  "On'n'On" is scheduled to be the third single (January 30th) which makes for a single roughly every three months.  By this point in the album cycle most bands would be wrapping things up and getting to work on the next record, but then again we're talking about a band that took four years between their debut and sophomore LP's, so Justice have never been known for rushing things.

The Tiga remix of "Canon" is scheduled to be one included as a b-side to the "On'n'On" single, a jaunty romp deserving of the NSFW sleeve art above.

Major Lazer: "Original Don"

If you're ever unclear on what you should be doing in your band's music video, it's easy to fall back on synchronized dancing featuring bladed armaments.  Throw in a Betty White substitute and, voila, your meme cake is ready to be adorned with celebratory candles.
