Lockah: "Please Lockah, Don't Hurt 'Em"
Rave is making a comeback, and if you couldn't tell check out the title track of Lockah's new EP, Please Lockah, Don't Hurt 'Em. The MC Hammer and TMNT references scream 1990, right at that acid house apex before Rave 1.0 peaked and crashed.

DJ Spookz: "Turntabla" [Morcee remix]
The genre regrettably dubbed "electronica" has morphed greatly over the years, but one thing that's largely been lost is the buoyant catchiness of those old rave-era tracks. DJ Spookz is apparently as nostalgic for the old sounds as we are, and it doesn't hurt that Morcee updates his "Turntabla" banger with a bit of that UK bass flavor, UK bass being one of the few modern electronic subsets to bring back that carnivalesque funk.

Untold: "Overdrive"
There have been a lot of these mechanistic, geometry fetish animations accompanying electronic songs in music video form lately, but if anyone has earned the right to milk the formula one last time it's Hemlock label boss Untold. The only thing keeping "Overdrive" from being full on industrial is that elastic, boogie down bass line.

Artifact: "Brittle Bones" / "Freezedry"
I'm sure there are already a dozen or more men - and maybe even a few stray dogs - plying their wares under the sobriquet Artifact, so this may conceivably get confusing: this Artifact is a new out of the gate Bristol producer who didn't even have the decency to adopt some faddish affectation like spelling his name 4r71f6c7 or maybe a pirate-themed Arrrrtifakt, the better to distinguish himself from the competition. He did, however, have the decency to float us this free digital 12" as a teaser to any upcoming work that may arise out of his signing to Local Action. Resident Advisor has more on one Ryan Bonfield.

Addison Groove: "Bad Things" [feat. Spank Rock]
I'm all about electronic artists working blue, primarily because I hope it will further the less adventurous, far more boring crunk's obsolescence. Where Addison Groove and Spank Rock get it right is in keeping the beats first and foremost, whereas guys like Lil John and Soula Boy hit autopilot on the bass and just rattle off some shit about bitches getting freaky on the dance floor... it's really 2 Live Crew without the humor value, isn't it?

Addison Groove: "Savage Henry"
That's maybe the filthiest bass sound I've heard since Kenny Powers got coked up and danced to Trentemoller at the high school prom. Addison Groove is Anthony Williams, who has previously recorded dubstep as Headhunter for Tempa. Now he's on the UK Bass tip with a new moniker, new sound... and a new label, 50 Weapons. The latter will be releasing the Transistor Rhythm full length March 30.
PS. Bonus points if you recognized Savage Henry as the "skag baron" who Dr. Gonzo and Raoul Duke claim they're going to "croak" in the first scene of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Scuba: "The Hope"
Never thought about it before, but elephants have a built in snorkel. Bitchin'.
Scuba is producer Paul Rose, whose new album Personality is out February 27 on Hotflush. In the meantime enjoy this found footage video clip, or just flip to another tab and jam the frisky tuneage in the background while you get some work done.

Tyga: "Rack City" [Taz Buckfaster Remix]
Remember when hip hop used to sport serious bass? Taz Buckfaster does. Probably helps that he's from Glasgow and, what with UK Bass and Dubstep both remaining influential affairs in his neck of the woods, he most likely wouldn't be caught dead remixing another man's material without adding some formidable low end to the proceedings... even on a bootleg, which is apparently what this is.
